Beschreibung
Content
The human brain is malleable—especially during childhood and adolescence. This neuroplasticity enables learning and development, but it also renders the brain vulnerable to negative environmental influences.
Drawing on case studies, historical examples, and current research, Isabella Sarto-Jackson illustrates how social interactions, emotional bonds, and traumatic experiences shape brain development. The book integrates insights from neuroscience, psychology, education, and evolutionary biology to offer a new understanding of cognition, intelligence, and mental health—and it advocates for decisive societal action within the fields of education and social work to protect vulnerable children.
