Linnda Caporael received her BA and PhD in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a Fulbright-Hayes Scholar, she studied human ethology at the Institute of Child Development, University of London. She has also been a Visiting Scientist in Invertebrate Paleontology and Anthropology at the American Museum of Natural History. She researches biology from a cultural perspective and culture from a biological perspective. Her interests include: the evolution of human sociality; multilevel selection theory; group coordination; social dilemmas; social identity; social constructivism; behavioral decision making, the attribution of human characteristics to animals, machines, and artificial agents;the ecology of learning; evolutionary and technological design; and the design of culturally "fit" artifacts.
